Sunday Stash~Basket Overload

Molli Sparkles

There is a place in Portland, OR called FABRIC DEPOT. It is, quite literally, a football field of fabric, notions etc. It's not a place for me to go when I'm not sure what I want to do...I get pulled in so many directions.

They were having a 40% off sale Friday & Saturday, and I thought I'd be smart and go on Friday night when nobody was there. WRONG! Apparently, I'm not the only quilter with a "good idea". After 3 hours, I had pulled this for a specific project I was working on:

Fabrics to go with Leah Duncan's Meadow line, to be made into a project inspired by Erica Jackman's recent blog http://www.kitchentablequilting.com/p/tips-and-tutorials.html. I got twenty one 1/3 yard cuts (only 7 yards!) and I still need to find more. No hurry, this one will be for me...I think!

I'm just a bit pooped!  Back to work for now on my baby quilts! :)

Let's BEE Social~WIP: V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N!

Sew Fresh QuiltsWIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

So last week I was on vacation with my daughter. We drove from Oregon to Yosemite, CA and we had a wonderful time. I've been working on this quilt as you go bag. It just needs handles, and it's done!

I'm also working on this baby quilt...21 square, 21 rows. 421 squares in all!

I'm about half way done. Hope you're enjoying summer!

WIP~LET'S BEE SOCIAL: QUILT AS YOU GO HIPSTER BAG

Sew Fresh QuiltsWIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

My daughter mentioned that she'd like a purse, but not too big of a purse...and I was looking for something quick to do. So...I came up with this quilt as you go HIPSTER BAG:

My first go at it turned out a little too...long?

So, I cut it off, re-sewed the bottom, cut off the flap, re-sized it and came up with this: I added loops and store bought strap, and it was done! AND she likes it! :) Happy Wednesday to you, thanks for stopping by!

NEW QUILTERS BLOG HOP

Hello there! I'm Diana and I am a mother of two girls, Aubrey (now 20) and Shannon (now 16):
My other three loves, Boo, Friskie & Duke also keep me busy!

I love all kinds of projects, quilts, handbags, string bags, curtains, pillows. You name it...if I'm inspired, I'll give it a try. Here are a few projects that I've completed:
String Bah
Anita's Quilt
Shannon's Quilt
Mug Rugs
Mini Medallion
Chicken Handbag
My quilting tip: by the time I get to the binding, I just want a quilt done! I've learned a cool "stitch-in-the-ditch" machine binding method, I'd be happy to share :)

I want to travel everywhere! Italy, Tahiti, Europe, Australia, you name it...even the South Pole (more to volunteer at the research base than to "vacation" really)

Thanks for stopping by...I hope to see you again!

WIP & LET'S BEE SOCIAL: What it is and what it should be

This top, for my Aunt & Uncle, in celebration of their 40th Wedding Anniv is done. My "quilt models" weren't available, so I tried to hang this in my sewing room. It doesn't really work well to display my quilt for documentation purposes, but I love how it looks like stained glass! Makes me happy...so happy that I made this the background on my cellphone! :)
Here are the blocks pre-assembly:
Thanks for stopping by! Happy Wednesday!
